Tennessee FAQ
Tennessee Online Traffic School — FAQs.
- Can I take this course for a Tennessee traffic citation?
- Yes, however you must get court approval first. The presiding court handling your ticket decides whether traffic school is an acceptable option for your specific violation. Also, if you receive an eligibility letter from the Tennessee Department of Safety about a point reduction benefit after a ticket, our course works for that too. Course completion must be within 90 days of the violation date.
- Can this course be taken on a mobile device?
- Yes. The course is mobile-friendly and runs on nearly any tablet, smartphone, laptop, or desktop with a modern internet browser (JavaScript and cookies enabled).
- How long is the course?
- The state-approved length is 4 hours. You set the pace and log in and out as often as needed — progress saves automatically.
- How is my completion reported?
- There is no state or court reporting from us. When you pass, you'll be able to download a free PDF certificate. It is your responsibility to submit that certificate to the appropriate authority (court, state agency, employer, etc.) by any due date they set.
- Can this course reduce points on my Tennessee driving record?
- Yes. Eligible Tennessee drivers can remove up to 5 points from their driving record from a speeding ticket by completing our course within 90 days of the conviction. Point reduction only applies to speeding convictions and requires an eligibility letter from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) confirming you can take the course. The conviction itself will remain on your record — only the points are removed. This benefit is available once every 4 years.
- Is the course all reading?
- No. It uses a mixture of video, animation, and text so you're not stuck reading for four hours.
- Why do I have to answer security questions?
- All state-approved programs require identity validation. During registration you'll set up security questions that are re-asked at 10 random checkpoints during the course. If you miss three of them, you'll be disqualified and required to start a new course.
- Does the course contain a final exam?
- No. Each unit ends with a short multiple-choice quiz — 70% to pass with unlimited retakes. There is no final exam.
- What if I'm not satisfied?
- We offer a 60-day money-back guarantee. You are not eligible for a refund if you have already completed the course or have been disqualified for identity-validation or unit quiz failures. Call 1-800-558-9887 (Mon–Fri 9AM–5PM CST) to request a refund.
- How do I reach a live person?
- Call 1-800-558-9887 or email info@ticketschool.com. Support hours are Mon–Fri 9AM–5PM CST, excluding holidays.
