Texas Drug & Alcohol Driving Awareness (DADAP) — FAQs.
- Is this online course approved by the State of Texas?
- Our 6-hour online Drug and Alcohol Driving Awareness Program (DADAP) was the first of its kind approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) but is no longer regulated as of legislative changes in June 2023. Many courts and judges still choose to accept DADAP for alcohol and drug offenses. Check with the court before registering.
- What alcohol offenses can I take DADAP for?
- Many Texas courts accept DADAP for offenses that may include: 106.02 (purchase of alcohol by a minor), 106.025 (attempt to purchase), 106.04 (consumption), 106.041 (driving or operating a watercraft under the influence by a minor), 106.05 (possession), and 106.07 (misrepresentation of age). Verify with your court before registering.
- Can this course be taken on a mobile device?
- Yes. It's mobile-friendly on nearly any tablet, smartphone, laptop, or desktop with an internet browser.
- When will I receive my completion certificate?
- Immediately. As soon as you pass the final exam, your certificate is available as a PDF for you to download and print — no waiting, no mailing, no shipping fees.
- What do I do with my completion certificate?
- You are responsible for turning the printed PDF certificate in to the appropriate authority based on your reason for taking the course — court, attorney, insurance company, employer, or similar. Confirm the accepted delivery method (in person, mail, email, or upload) with that authority.
- Does the course have to be completed in one sitting?
- No. Log in and out from any device with internet access — progress saves automatically.
- How long is the DADAP course?
- Six hours. Each page has a time requirement based on its content to ensure you spend the required minimum time.
- How do I pay?
- Debit or credit card via our secure online payment form gives you immediate access to the course.

- Is DADAP a defensive driving course?
- No. If a Texas court or judge ordered you to attend a defensive driving course, you cannot take DADAP for that purpose.
- Will my insurance company give me a discount for completing DADAP?
- Very few people are aware that many auto insurance companies offer a discount for completing a drug and alcohol driving awareness program. If you're looking to reduce your monthly insurance costs, contact your agent or provider to verify their discount programs and DADAP participation before registering.
- What does the course price include — any hidden fees?
- No hidden fees. The price covers the full 6-hour course, the 20-question final exam, and your instant downloadable PDF certificate. An audio read-along is available as an optional upgrade for an additional fee.
- What is your refund policy?
