Get your Texas driver's license or learner's permit
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) requires first-time applicants ages 18 to 24 to complete a 6-hour Adult Driver Education course before they are eligible to apply for a learner's permit or driver's license. Drivers 25 and older aren't required to take it but are strongly encouraged to. Passing our TDLR-approved course also satisfies the DPS written knowledge test, so you can head straight to your driving skills test with your certificate in hand.
